In the loving memory of Dr. Prabhat Kumar

This site is a tribute to Dr. Prabhat Kumar, who was born in Muzaffarpur, Bihar on April 27, 1970. He left us suddenly, too soon, on the 17th September 2016.

A man of sheer charm and delight, Dr. Prabhat was a promising person who dedicated his life to help small-scaled farmers in the Southeast Asian region with his expertise in science and his unending compassion and conviction for a better world.

Dr. Prabhat Kumar was an Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) alumnus (Agricultural Systems,1996) from Bangkok, Thailand. He worked as a Research Associate in Agricultural Systems Engineering (ASE) Field of Study from 1996 to 1997 and left AIT to pursue his doctoral degree in Germany. He came back in 2006 as a Research Specialist in ASE Field of Study and became the Director of ACISAI Centre in 2013.

His love for Bismillah Khan & Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan ghazals, devotion to Hinduism, preaching of the Paramahansas, fondness for his people and his vision for a better world will be greatly missed. In his personal time, Prabhat used to engage himself by broadening his learning sphere through reading various books and also, in contrast, learning new recipes and trying them out at home.

Some of Prabhat's long-time favourite ghazals include Pandit Kumar Gandharva's 'Sunta Hai Guru Gyani' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ordi4e72nVY), Farida Khanum's 'Aaj Jaane Ki Zid Na Karo' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqbbILfdw94), and a very recent addition to his favourites was Kailash Kher's 'Saiyaan' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuUVVKVdZm4). A few of his daughters' favourite recipes, which he enjoyed cooking, are also uploaded on the site.

He is succeeded by his wife, Dr. Abha Mishra, who is the Co-Director of ACISAI and his two daughters, Vagisha and Tanvi

This is an online platform where friends, families and colleagues can return to and share photos, memories, moments, stories and reflections which could be remembered and cherished by all.
